The benefits of Duralex glass®
THE TEMPERING PROCESS IS OUR TRADEMARK
Since 1945, Duralex® has been a pioneer in tempered glass technology, a process in which we are specialists. Our factory in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin was the first in the world to produce tableware in tempered glass. Thanks to our ongoing investments and our commitment to quality, Duralex® has achieved a level of excellence that has ensured the brand's success throughout the world. Our company is indisputably recognized as the leader in tempered glass.
WHAT IS TEMPERED GLASS?
What makes Duralex glass® glass so resistant is the tempering process. This consists in cooling the entire glass product by fanning cold air over it, which has been previously heated to a temperature of around 650°C. This treatment creates controlled stresses in the glass, improving most of its physical qualities: resistance to mechanical stress and thermal shock (sudden temperature change). Duralex® glass is at least 2.5 times more resistant than untempered glass. It can withstand a thermal shock of at least 130°C. Tempered glass is also used in windshields, which shatter into thousands of non-cutting pieces in the event of an impact or accident.
EN 1183 standard
Duralex® complies with the European standard for thermal shock, one of the strictest, and even exceeds its requirements. Duralex products® products withstand thermal shock of at least 130°C.
EXTREMELY DURABLE, EXTREMELY RESISTANT
